I Miss Her!

Charlie's Angels or Girl Scouts ...

It’s Friday and I have plans to meet friends out at a wine bar to celebrate a birthday… He refuses to acknowledge that he’s getting older so we like to remind him, nicely, of course. However, I know how he feels. Getting older – another birthday – it’s all part of the process and MUCH better than the alternative. Every day above ground is great!

Saturday I’m going to surprise Sven with a visit to the Planetarium on campus. I haven’t caught a show there and I’m hoping it’s as good as they make it out to be… I also have plans for Saturday night, something fun with K.L. but nothing has been planned. It’s more fun to “wing it” most of the time.

I think we are going to be Charlie’s Angels this year for Halloween. We have the blond, brunette (muah) and red head – just need to put it all together with Bosley and some fun costumes! It’s always difficult to find a blond that isn’t flaky and this year we have three to choose from. Certainly ONE of them can commit!

Ema Jane

I am so saddened and sorry to hear of the passing of Ema Jane.

Ema Jane was my school nurse and I used to make excuses to visit her daily. I would complain of a stomach, head, or anything ache and she would give me some kind of "medicine" and make it all better. My memories of her are so fond and plentiful, they will always bring a smile to my face and soul.

I am very thankful I had the opportunity to visit and share dinner with her on my trip home in August. Ema Jane was laughing, joking and greeting everyone that walked in with a gracious smile and a cheerful hello. She had recently returned home from a trip to her high school reunion in Nebraska and was tickled to recount the story. She was so excited and happy, just as I had always remembered her.

I love this photo

Go Diamondbacks

I went to the Diamondbacks baseball game against the LA Dodgers last Saturday with a few of my friends! We had a great time, the D-backs won and we got on the Jumbotron singing "Brown-Eyed Girl" -- so that makes it even better! We mostly go simply to hang out and really don't pay much attention to the game. At one point K. asked why everyone was "leaving already" and I said, "because the game is over. We won!" To which she clapped and gleefully responded with a cheer! So - it's much more of a social thing for us than a baseball thing. My company has great tickets 13 rows up just off first base. In fact, Sven had to save me once from a foul ball. He hurt his hand and I wondered why he “simply” deflected the ball instead of catching it?!?

Well, I got an 88% on my nutrition exam. Some of the questions were very tricky and I wasn't very happy about a B (or a B plus as the teacher pointed out to me). I was confident I had gotten an A. Although, there could be light at the end of the tunnel since NO ONE got 100%. Hopefully she'll do a curve and I will get an A! I was so upset by a couple of the tricky ones that she actually gave me back her test questions and asked me to suggest a rewrite so they weren't tricky. –laughing- I know she didn't want me to wait for her after class in the parking lot... I rewrote them and even as I did, they were making more sense to me -- the trickery vanishing as I saw her point of view. I still rewrote them, though.

September is over - unbelievable! The weather is really cooling down and this entire weekend has been truly unbelievable. It reminds me why I suffer through 3 months of intense blazing heat searching for cold water every 10 minutes. Cool winds, starry nights, and luscious living... the reward is well worth the small torture of heat. Next month - Halloween!! I'll have some more great pictures to share then.
